A Simple Faith

At the New Year countdown Mass, I heard the very last sermon of last year 2008 or the very first sermon with a very deep impression this year 2009.

Its about the simple faith of a mother who believe in God so much that even though she may not be able to read a word from the Bible or explain the profound words of the Bible. She is able to display faith that is beyond many so call "good" Christian that I know of.

I believe this is what Jesus meant when He said "If you have faith of a mustard seed you can move mountain."

Sometime people just think too much into how to reach God, when all you need to do is to quiet down our heart and Jesus is just right beside you.

If you look out side you will not find, if you look within, it will be there.
Eyes provide sight, Heart provide insight.

A life well lived.

Since the start of my new job, I get to know a few millionaires, basically rich people. Well they are my boss, and directors. They have worked hard and build up this company to where it is now. However, I do not know how do they really view their life? They have achieved what most people want, wealth in terms of money, but are they really happy? I guess they are. But my boss' wife do not give me the impression that she is very happy inside her. Shouting and cursing at people she does not like.

I have been thinking to live a good life, to feel happy and how much we think we are worth is reflected on how much and how many people we have influence/help, there should be more words to describe. That is why we are so sad when someone who is close to us pass away. It would be worse if the one who pass away is the only close one we have.

Everyone on earth is to help to bring human being as a whole to live better. If not, we can have all the money in the world, but will not be happy. True happiness is when you help someone in need.

Goal with a Reason

Many time, people would make goals for themselves. Me for example make a lot of goals. Some how, after a few weeks, sometime days, I lose sight of my goals. I think a lot of people have the same experience.

As I reflect and listening to Tony Robbins' audio, he talks about reason for your goal. I realise that the goal which I make does not have strong reason. So when there is some distraction which pop up, I will lose sight of my goal.

I will plan my goal with strong reasons and make it happen. :)

Fail to Plan or Plan to fail???

People generally don't plan to fail, but they fail to plan.

Proverd 16:1
"We may make all our plans, but God has thee last word."

Wisdom From Proverb.

I was reading the book of Proverbs last night. I thought after reading so many "wise" book from the secular world, I should be looking into the Bible for more wisdom. Since the bible is the word of God, who is better than God when it comes to knowledge and wisdom.

I have read the book of Proverbs in the past before, but it does not give me any inspiration on wisdom. Yesterday, I would not say that I am very inspirated be what I read, but there is one verse which strick me, because it is mention by a lot secular "guru".

Proverbs 4:23
Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts (GN Translation)
Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life . (NSA Translation)
As You Think So You Shall Be.
Sound familiar, well it was in one of my previous post. Well reading all those secular book do have its usefullness. Now when I read the bible, I will read it from a different point of view.

Value the Present

Taken from a email I recieved
====================================================
Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning
with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every
evening deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use
during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!!!! Each of us
has such a bank. Its name is TIME.

Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it
writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest
to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no
overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it
burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's
deposits, the loss is yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against the
"tomorrow". You must live in the present on today's deposits.
Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness,
and success!

The clock is running. Make the most of today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a
grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to
a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly
newspaper. .

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting
to meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the
train.

To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided
an accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a
silver medal in the Olympics

Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because
you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your
time. And remember that time waits for no one.

Gratitude, The Road To Richness

The road to richness. Gratitude.

I have learn this from many people, however, this concept of gratitude is expressed in the bible most. We are taught to give thanks for everything we have. At least this is what I was taught since young. But gratitude is not something which can be full understand by listening to sermon or a talk. It is to be experienced. You need to be in a position where you really feel you are thankful for something, or everything you have and you will know the true meaning of gratitude.

I put down in the title, gratitude, the road to richness. I the past, I do not see what how richness and gratitude have any link with each other. However, Tony Robbin enlightened me in one of his leeson. When we are in the state of true gratitude, there is nothing that we want, we have everything we need. True richness is not having a lot of money, but it is knowing that you have everything you need. Is concept is so simple, but it is very easily over look.

Having a lot of money does not guarantee that you will be happy, however it seem better to be rich and miserable than to be poor and miserable.
